The Shape That Traps the Sauce. Inside and Out.
Marry Me Pasta Penne is the most functional pasta shape in the range — and the one with the most history behind it. The tube holds sauce inside. The ridged exterior grips it on the outside. Every bite delivers sauce from two directions at once, which is exactly why penne is the traditional Roman pairing for arrabbiata and why it became a staple of Italian weeknight cooking. When the sauce is genuinely good, penne makes sure you taste it fully in every single forkful.
100% durum wheat semolina, bronze die cast and imported from Italy. The rough, porous surface created by the bronze die process grips sauce rather than letting it slide — the difference between a properly coated dish and pasta sitting in a puddle. Designed specifically to work with the Marry Me premium gourmet sauce range.
Why Bronze Die Cast Changes Everything
Commercial pasta is extruded through Teflon dies — smooth surfaces that produce a glossy tube. Sauce slides off the outside and runs straight out of the inside. You end up with separate pasta and sauce rather than a unified dish.
Bronze die cast penne is made the traditional Italian way. The rough bronze die creates a micro-textured, slightly porous surface on the tube — rough enough for sauce to grab onto, open enough for it to be absorbed into the pasta as it rests. The result is sauce that stays put through the full length of the meal. Combined with 100% durum wheat semolina — firm enough to hold its shape in sauce without going soft — this is penne that performs exactly the way the shape was designed to perform.
Sauce Pairings — What Goes With Penne
Penne’s tube shape works best with bold, flavourful sauces that have something to fill the inside. The angled cut creates maximum surface contact with the sauce in every bite.
| 🌶 Marry Me Arrabbiata — Classic Pairing
The traditional Roman combination — penne all’arrabbiata is one of Italy’s most iconic dishes. The spicy sauce fills the tube, coats the outside, and builds heat gradually through the meal. Finish with fresh parsley and pecorino. |
🍅 Marry Me Marinara — Great Pairing
Clean San Marzano tomato sauce in a tube shape delivers the full flavour of the Marinara in every bite. A reliable weeknight combination that never disappoints. Top with Parmigiano at the table. |
| 🍷 Marry Me Alla Vodka — Outstanding Pairing
Penne alla vodka is a Roman classic — and for good reason. The creamy, silky vodka sauce pools inside the tube and clings to the ridged outside simultaneously. Rich, indulgent, and exactly the right shape for the dish. |

How to Cook Marry Me Penne — The Right Way
The Method Italian Cooks Always Use
- Salt the water generously. It should taste like the sea. Salt seasons the pasta from the inside out — this step cannot be compensated for later.
- Bring to a rolling boil before adding penne. Maintain a steady boil throughout.
- Cook for 12 minutes to al dente. The penne should have a slight resistance at the centre when bitten — not hard, not soft. Al dente.
- Save a cup of pasta water before draining. The starch in this water is the secret to restaurant-quality sauce consistency — it emulsifies the sauce and makes it cling to the pasta rather than sitting underneath it.
- Finish in the pan. Add drained penne directly to the simmering sauce with 2–3 tablespoons of pasta water. Toss well for 60–90 seconds. The pasta absorbs the sauce flavour and the starch brings everything together. Serve immediately.
Never rinse penne after draining. The surface starch is what the sauce bonds to — rinsing it removes the most important functional element of bronze die cast pasta and reduces your finished dish to standard commercial-pasta quality. Drain and go directly into the sauce.
